Our Director - Randy
R. D. Blouse (Randolph) has been music director for the American Liberty Pops Singers, Inc. since it's inception over five years ago. A native of Nankin Township, MI, he has been a musician for over four decades. He graduated from the University of Michigan School of Music and served as the music director of the Ford Motor Company Chorus at World Headquarters for 10 years, including three European tours. He has performed worldwide on trumpet, organ and piano and served as a choral director over the past three decades. He has performed for such conductors/soloists as Richard Bonynge, Bruno Rigachi (of La Scala), Theo Alcantara and Rostropovich. His vocal music experience includes years of tenure as an accompanist, arranger, composer, producer and director, including many theatrical musical productions at the community and professional level, most recently as music director for the Encore Theatre in Dexter, MI for productions of "Evita", "Little Shop of Horrors", "Oklahoma" and "Annie". Currently, he also accompanies students at Eastern Michigan University and serves as music director/organist, organist and contemporary music director at two area Lutheran Churches. Randy is a composer, arranger, director and international performer. As music director for the American Liberty Pops Singers he brings a fresh technical and musical approach that inspires singers and delights audiences. We are very fortunate to have him as our director.
Randy’s dream was the formation of a choral society that would perform American music to enrich and benefit others as well as training young singers and encouraging their performance of American music. He gathered musical friends, told them his idea, and so, ALPS was born.
The American Liberty Pops Singers, Inc. (ALPS) is a 501(c) (3) charitable organization which sponsors an adult chorus of spiritually guided, patriotic, positive minded singers as well as The Children of Liberty, an elementary-middle school chorus. The group specializes in American, patriotic and holiday benefit performances. ALPS is listed in the Michigan Humanities Touring Directory for 2007-2009.
The ALPS engage in true benefit performances. We charge no fee for such performances, providing the sponsoring organization also charges no fees which are not directly given to the benefiting parties. The group is also available to perform for other occasions for a nominal donation. Please click on our list of previous concerts.
Thus far we have provided assistance and support to various causes such as the benefit concert for families of Michigan National Guard servicemen serving overseas when we raised over $1500, as well as our support for Tsunami relief, the Veteran’s Program of the Brain Injury Association of Michigan and Toys for Tots, to mention just a few.
Everyone in the ALPS is a volunteer. The members are not paid musicians and all have full time jobs and families when they are not providing music. Each member is deeply committed to vocal performance and benefiting others. We welcome requests for our services. Please use the contact form to speak to an ALPS member regarding a concert.
We welcome new members in January and September. Please use the contact form to set up an audition with our music director!
